Upcoming Events

Reformation & New Member Celebration Potluck - Sunday, Oct. 26 @ 11:45

Join us this Sunday after the 10:15 service for a potluck.  It will be a great opportunity to welcome new members and celebrate the Reformation.  Everyone is encouraged to bring a dish or 2 to share.  You are also invited to wear red to celebrate the Reformation (see article below).  We look forward to seeing you there.

Halloween Outreach - Friday, Oct. 31 beginning @ 4 pm

We are excited to join the Calle Escada neighborhood this year in treating families.  This neighborhood has more than 500 children walking through.  We look forward to engaging treaters in conversations and  handing out hot dogs, water, treats, and invitations to our Pumpkin Carving on Sunday, Nov. 2.  If you would like to help, please let me know.  We could use a few more volunteers.  We are thankful to Thrivent for helping make this possible through an Action Team Grant.

Gospel Message Pumpkin Carving - Sunday, Nov. 2 @ 9:00 am

Jennifer is excited to share the Light of Christ through a pumpkin carving project with singles and families of all ages.  We will gather at 9:00, so whether you attend the 8:00 or 10:15 service, you can plan to join us in the Children's room for a great experience.  Invite your friends or neighbors to come with you.  If you would like to help Jennifer with set-up, cutting out the tops of the pumpkins, or clean-up please contact her at jstein@hopeonthebeach.org.

News & Updates

Hope Expansion and Enhancement Project

Hope has been under construction expanding the sanctuary and enhancing other parts of our facility.  We are excited to see the progress of the project.  This past week the stage was completed and a lot of progress made to the flooring.  Here is a sneak peek of the altar area.

Mission Summit Update

Last Friday, fifteen people were blessed and inspired at the Mission Summit led by author and International Speaker and Rev. Greg Finke.  Greg has written the book "Joining Jesus on Mission" and it is an easy read.  The book and the Summit simplified and equipped us on how to follow Jesus.  We encourage you to pick up a copy of the book at a bookstore, online, or Pastor Jason has several copies available for a donation of $10.  This concept of missional living resonated with many in attendance because Pastor Jason has been sharing through messages, meetings, and conversations about living missionally in our neighborhoods, schools, and work place.  He has offered to help  you host a fish fry or cookout.  This is a great resource for helping Hope carry out its vision and mission.  We are grateful to the South District Missions for providing this opportunity.  If you would like to learn more go to www.dwelling114.org.

Reformation Sunday, Oct. 26

What does the Reformation mean?  On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther posted the 95 Theses on the door of the Wittenberg Castle Church as an invitation to debate the sale of indulgences.  This sparked a movement of reform that eventually led to the establishment of the Lutheran Church.  On this day we encourage you to wear red, signifying the continuing work of the Holy Spirit renewing the church.

Daylight Savings Time

Just a reminder that Daylight Savings Time begins on Sunday, Nov. 2.  Don't forget to turn your clocks back one hour before you go to bed on Saturday, Nov. 1.

Thrivent Financial Supports Local Churches

If you are a member of Thrivent Financial, please be sure to call the office, talk to your representative, or call Kristie Scheler to learn how you can give to Hope or other Lutheran congregations / organizations without it costing you anything.  Since Thrivent is a Fraternal Organization they are able to give their annual earnings away.  Hope appreciates being the recipient of Choice Dollars and Action Team Grants.  If you are not currently designating your Choice Dollars, choosing Hope would help us to continue to reach others in our community.

Have a blessed week.
